when you left to get the rest of your things
by the end of the day, well, it turned into two days
and ended up being the whole entire weekend
but at that point, what's even the difference?
when your mom messaged me from your phone to say
you'd been in the er since last night and not able to talk at this time, well, it came as a shock alright
especially when there was no indication of whether you were gonna be fine.
you are your mother's daughter;
i know you don't do well underwater.
when you finally come up for air,
i'll be there.
when you called, it'd been almost two weeks
and you said i'm ok but something in you had changed
because when you came home, it was almost midnight; you just turned in and off went the light.
still, i felt your pain pulsing through those thin walls and i wished i could help.
you were pretty raw no doubt,
staying up all night talking to your dad and crying your eyes out.
you are your father's daughter,
i know you don't want to be a bother.
when you finally come up for air,
i'll be there.
then when i woke up the next morning,
i saw your open door and scattered belongings
and knew at once you were gone.
but i didn't know if i'd done something wrong
until i put it together through writing this song.
you do what you must to survive
but at least you could've said goodbye.

Thom's pick: Slowdive feels just as current and engaging as ever on this one, maybe just as timeless as Souvlaki. From start to finish, it's an absolute soundbath: warm, lush and soaked in melancholy. Damper
Chris' pick: This was a huge return for Crime in Stereo after a 13 year break. Glitchy soundscaping, catchy vocal hooks and attention to detail make this album a fully cohesive listening experience. Damper
Phil's pick: I've had this album on nonstop since it came out. Nick DePirro's guitar is truly incredible and Aric Improta makes excellent use of space as he weaves together layers of rhythm on drums. Damper
Thin Lear's sophisticated rock music is tempered with soaring chamber pop accents and an undeniable gift for melody. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 30, 2020
Oklahoma duo Plain Speak serve up radiant power pop on their latest LP, surrounding sugar-sweet vocal harmonies with pealing chords. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 18, 2023
This may be Nate Kinsella's "dad record," but the array of experimental sounds and soulful songs on offer evidence a new creative peak. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 23, 2024
